The main feature of the forum is the opening ceremony of the Ural Laser Innovation and Technology Centre.

The non-profit partnership “Ural Laser Innovation and Technology Centre” has OAO UralNITI and ZAO the Regional Sheet Shaping Centre as initiators of the partnership and its co-founders.

As a result of this project a regional laser innovation and technology centre – the Ural LITC - will be created in Yekaterinburg. Its main tasks will include providing practical assistance to enterprises in the region in adopting laser technologies, including adapting the existing and known laser technologies to the conditions and tasks of specific enterprises (three-dimensional welding, cutting, hardening and building-up welding), demonstrating the potential of the state-of-the-art laser equipment and educating qualified specialists (operators, manufacturing process engineers, and programmers), providing comprehensive services to the enterprises in the region in laser cutting and welding to facilitate preparations to start manufacturing new produce. The main function of the LITC will be to promote modern laser technologies (especially welding, local hardening and building-up welding) to the machine-building complex in the region.

The LITC will be located at premises of OAO UralNITI, which has been studying issues of ray procession methods and has wide experience in creating and adapting laser equipment and laser technologies. Organizational, methodological, technical and personnel support will also be provided by ZAO Regional Sheet Processing Centre. Besides that, higher educational establishments (Ural State University, Ural State Technical University), Research Institute of the Ural District of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Ural Chamber of Commerce as well as specialized industrial Unions of the region that support the initiative about such a centre in Yekaterinburg will also participate in the operations of the LITC.
